At the start of each ally’s turn in which they can hear the raging song, the skald’s allies must decide whether to accept or refuse its effects. Unconscious allies automatically accept the song. When starting an inspired rage, the skald chooses which rage powers (if any) to add to the song, and all affected allies gain the benefit of these rage powers

  • 0 +2 Dexterity, +2 Intelligence, –2 Strength: Ratfolk are agile and clever, yet physically weak.
  • 1 Some ratfolk have developed stretchy cheek pouches that they can use to hold and carry small loads up to 1 cubic foot in volume and 10 pounds in weight, such as light weapons, potions, scrolls, and similar objects. Such a ratfolk can transfer a held object to his cheek pouches or extract an object from his cheek pouches as a swift action. As a move action that provokes an attack of opportunity, the ratfolk can instead massage all of the items held in the cheek pouches onto the ground in the square it occupies. As long as the ratfolk has at least one object in its cheek pouches, its speech is difficult to understand, and it has a 20% spell failure chance when casting spells with verbal components. This racial trait replaces swarming.
  • 2 Some ratfolk unnerve normal animals, and train to defend themselves against the inevitable attacks from such creatures. These ratfolk take a –4 penalty on all Charisma-based skill checks to affect creatures of the animal type, and receive a +2 dodge bonus to AC against animals.   • 4 Some ratfolk spend as much time as they can aboveground and become very fast runners. This comes at the cost of their night vision, which becomes less acute after years of sunlight. These ratfolk gain low-light vision and have a base speed of 30 feet. This racial trait replaces darkvision and slow speed.

Background

Mestari Tikku tunnetaan viisaana ja älykkäänä senseinä. Hän on erittäin taitava kamppailulajeissa ja erityisesti ninjutsussa. Mestari Tikku on lähes aina rauhallinen, ja jopa suuttuessaan hän kykenee pidättäytymään huutamisesta. [1] Tikku on asunut lähes koko ikänsä laajoissa ja sokkeloisissa luolastoissa muun rottaväen kanssa. Hän ei kuitenkaan syntynyt luolastoissa vaan saapui niihin hyvin nuorena ”ulkopuolelta”, mikä oli ennenkuulumatonta näin syrjässä asuvalle rottaväkiyhteisölle. Tikku ansaitsi muun rottaväen luottamuksen älykkyytensä ja vahvan luonteensa ansiosta. Eräänlaisen mielen ja kamppailulajien kouluttajan roolin omaksumisen myötä Tikkua alettiin todella kunnioittaa ja häntä ansaitsi yhteisön keskuudessa nimityksen Mestari.

Tikku on rottaväkiyhteisönsä vanhimpia eikä hänellä ole tunnettuja sukulaisia. Hän on rodukseen isokokoinen ja menneisyydestään harvasanainen. Asetelma on ollut omiaan synnyttämään huhuja näin syrjässä asuvan yhteisön keskuudessa. Suosituimman huhun mukaan Tikku olisi alkujaan syntynyt ihmiseksi, mutta lapsuudessaan joutunut kosketuksiin vaarallisten alkemistin aineiden kanssa ja mutatoitunut rottamieheksi. Kunnioitetulta Tikulta kukaan ei ole väitettä suoraan uskaltanut kysyä ja epäsuorat tiedustelut hän sivuuttaa kryptisillä mietelauseilla.

Vuosia sitten örkit löysivät yhden luolaston monista sisäänkäynneistä ja siitä lähtien rottaväki on joutunut taistelemaan puolustussotaa jatkuvia hyökkäyksiä vastaan. Yhteisö ostaa itselleen aikaa romahduttamalla örkkien löytämiä sisäänkäyntejä ja kaivamalla uusia muualle, mutta tulevaisuus näyttää kokoajan synkemmältä. Tämän takia syrjäinen ja muita rotuja välttelevä rottaväkiyhteisö on päättänyt lähettää Mestari Tikun lähettilääksi ja tiedustelijaksi luomaan suhteita läheisiin kyliin avun ja puolustusyhteistyön toivossa.
