She is the youngest of a Ulfen family family with only daughters. Her father a warrior type, annoyed with this, decided to raise his youngest daughter as a male. As a result of this, Jo gets quite uncomfortable when people mention her real sex. She doesn't really believe herself to be a male, more like a neuter. This is also the reason she dresses in the heaviest armor available to her. Her becoming a paladin is the result of her mother fearing for safety during the hard training her father subjected her to. She was the evening star of her family, and thus her mother had always had a weak spot for her youngest and put frankly, quite simple daughter. She was sent to stay with some relatives of her mother's in Absalom, and was quickly overwhelmed by the sheer scale of the city, never having left her smallish fishing town in the far reaches of north. Iomedae was a deity that had always strongly resonated with her toughts, being a strong warrior woman and all, so she decided to seek out her temple to ask for guidance. That is exactly what she found, though she is quite uncomfortable speaking about the details, like with most details of her personal life. She took up the ways of paladins, and dedicated her life to purging evil from the world in the name of Iomedae. Later on she joined the Pathfinder Society, believing that this would help her in her mission. At least they let her kill all sorts of evil beings, that is purging, right? (She might have some barbarian tendencies in battle, leftovers from her father's training). Jo isn't the sharpest pen in the drawer, but she tries her best. She is amiable enough, and is willing to forgive the moral "mistakes" of her companions fast. (Mostly because she cannot remember them for long). A good listener, she seems to be actually able to be interested in well, everything, regarding whatever the topic is with almost childlike wonder. She has a tendency to focus single-mindedly on the task at hand though. She is quite naive, optimistic and mostly would just like for everyone to be happy and get along. She has listened enough of sermons at Iomedae's temples to believe that this cannot truly be achieved as long as there is evil in the world. Appearance-wise, think of a mixture between Lady Oscar and Brienne of Tarth. Huge, muscular, lightly-colored. She wasn't always that buff (or tall), that is a result of continuous training. Jo belives firmly in "healthy soul in a healthy body. Not actually ugly, just kind of manly-looking thanks to muscles, heavy armor, and shortish hair. Skin is somewhat tanned due to all the outdoors training, but even more clearly, it has brought out a massive bunch of freckles. Eyes are quite dark blue, with a hint of green here and there. Always in spotless armor (if the parade one, it is adorned with Iomede's colors, gold and white), but otherwise not that well-groomed.
