Major covenant (the Esteemed Order of Techmancers) It is better to control a king than be one – this is the motto of Kingmakers. Like the Keyholders, the Kingmakers pursue power in the mundane world. Their differences come from ideology and methodology. The Kingmakers want to rule the world from the shadows. Techmancers should appear neutral while secretly manipulating the rulers from the shadows. They want to see Arx Machinus as the true center of the world. Techmancery is simply a useful tool to this end. Many join the Kingmakers out of interest in covert knowledge. Conspiracies and plots are their bread and butter. Others come seeking for raw political power for a multitude of reasons. The Kingmakers maintain an impressive intelligence network. They engage in espionage, blackmail, infiltration and worse to gain hold over governments and merchant princes. Many of their members are diplomats, court advisors and others with a keen ear in the halls of power. They are one of the most ruthless covenants. The Kingmakers are obsessed with secrets, therefore it is difficult to have a realistic approximation of them. They enjoy maintaining an air of aloof mystique. The covenant might evenb hint at responsibility for events they had nothing to do with. They hold a cautious stance towards the Eserhaus Heresy. It all depends on how they are going to fit into the grand scheme of things. |
