Major covenant (the Esteemed Order of Techmancers) Brokers are among the most conservative covenants. Their main interest lies in making money, and they are happy with the status quo. Anything that changes the balance of power is bad for business. They see Techmancers as a mainly economical force. Maintaining the mysticism and the monopoly are matters of profit. Techmancers have the unique opportunity to control both the supply and the demand. There are many motivations to join the Brokers – and plain greed is an acceptable one. Some see money as power, a means to reach some personal victory. Others lobby economic control as a path to some faraway political goal. Some are simply religious conservatives with an utter belief in the gospel of prosperity. They see wealth as a sign of divine favor, and Techmancers are surely so favored. Some Brokers only care about instant short-term profit. Most think strategically with a patience that would awe even the Trader Union. In general, the Brokers are opposed to any reforms inside the Order. They are likewise skeptical of any changes in the mundane world. The Brokers are extremely hostile towards the Followers of Eserhaus. The heretics are a threat to the monopoly, and thus must be extinguished at any cost. |
